The Old Bakery Branscombe
A Warm Welcome
Nestled within a beautiful orchard sits the historic old village bakery. Run by the Collier brothers until 1987 it has since been owned by the National Trust.
You can still see the original baker’s table, the proving bins, mixing machines and peels that form part of the National Trust’s museum collection.
Emily took the reins in April 2025 and has reinvented the space as a craft gallery and hub with cream teas, light refreshments and a small village shop.
On visiting, you will find local contemporary and rural crafts, basketry, ceramics, woodwork and jewellery as well as quality local Art. In summer months, expect locally grown plants and herbs for sale in the garden as well as outdoor sculpture including pieces from the award winning blacksmith over the road https://www.branscombeforge.com.
In winter months we change pace to embrace a slow and cosy build up to the excitement of the Solstice, Midwinter and Christmas. Winter 25 bought you ‘A Winter Story’ with candlelit shopping, crafts workshops and carol singing.
Please do come and visit, we have plenty of seating inside (upstairs) and outside in the cottage garden or orchard. Take away is available for most items if you want to take to the (many) hills.

FAQs
Extremely uneven paths and a small bridge on approach. The flagstones within the bakery are one of its most treasured assets and full of ammonites but please go carefully as highly wonky in places. The doorways are utterly perfect if you’re 5.2”, otherwise, please do mind your head.
Dog friendly but we do ask that they are well behaved and on a lead. Towels can be provided if you wish to bring them inside on a wet day- the floors can get pretty slippery otherwise, thank you.
